Do What You Have To Do

When it comes to life, many people say that they are willing to “do what they have to do” to [insert goal/dream here]

It is astonishing to me to hear others say that they will do ANYTHING to get to where they want to be in life, but when you look closer at their actions, they show you otherwise.

“I would do anything to travel the world”

Okay, leave your family for weeks/months at a time to do that, it’ll be fun!

“I don’t think I could stand being away from my family for too long.”

“Being financially responsible is something I stand by and I will do anything to save my money and not spend it on things I don’t need.”

That is so great to hear, continue doing you and saving your money!

*2 weeks later on Snapchat*

“Look at this brand new $500 Apple watch I got! So many cool features.”

Your actions MUST match your ambition.

I have big ambitions for my life and the way I want it to be.

Now, I believe to be taking a lot of positive action towards making my ambitions into reality.

The old me wasn’t doing enough.

I would say the same things, then have my actions show the EXACT opposite of my ambitions.

Rewire your brain for success.

Think of the person you would like to emulate.

Think about how they would handle certain situations and what actions they would take.

Successful people don’t waste their time bullshitting.

If they say they’ll do anything, they mean it.

Do what you have to do to provide for yourself and your family.

You have more of an influence than you think

Imagine being in charge of the world and where it was heading.

Being that one person where your actions and choices heavily influence the direction of where humanity was heading.

That would be a lot of responsibility, right?

In reality, we as individuals have that power to change where humanity is heading. In a smaller, more personal scale of course, but through the idea that our actions and our choices NOW not only affect us, but they will affect the generations that come after us.

Now picture this, a world where individually we considered the repercussions of our actions and weren’t ignorant to the negative consequences to follow.

We as humans understood that overconsumption and holes in the ozone layer were an issue. BACK. IN. 1992. Now it is 27 years later and we are facing the consequences of an ignorant past generation. The Earth has many more scientific problems that weren’t even thought to be possible at one point, an ocean that is flooded with pollution and dying ecosystems, and a LOT of people just waiting for someone else to take care of it.

The past generations knew that these issues were going to continue to grow, but left it up to someone else to deal with. Instead of realizing that we as individuals have more of an impact than we truly think.

Now, we are at a point where there is almost no chance of returning to the healthy planet that we once knew or a society where everyone is understanding of the issues the Earth is actually facing.

When are we as individuals going to stop being ignorant to the idea that we are the ones that are capable of changing the world?

With that being said, I believe that we need to be thinking in the mindset of:

“What I do now, may influence a generation. Will that influence be positive or negative?”

  • When you throw that piece of trash on the ground. Positive or Negative?
  • You driving drunk and put yourself and others in danger. Positive or Negative?
  • Doing drugs. Positive or Negative influence?
  • Believing that you picking up that “one piece of trash in the parking lot” WILL make a difference. Positive or Negative?
  • You and a few buddies picking up a bag full of trash off the beach and disposing of it properly. Positive or Negative?

Your own kids, your nieces, your nephews, your grandkids, your great-great-great grandkids are going to have to bear with the consequences of the actions you make now.

Will they be a positive or a negative one?

You decide.

Your family, and humanity, needs you.
